Successful companies are often born in response to a problem. That’s the story of Dapper Classics. Fred and Harrison Rich were dissatisfied with bland men’s hosiery that would sag and bunch upon wear and troubled by the limited options for Made in USA dress socks. In 2012, the father-and-son team founded Dapper Classics to offer a solution.

Months of planning and research led to a partnership with a third-generation North Carolina mill that helped us realize our vision of knitting fine men’s hosiery in the U.S.A. That was the easy part. When we launched our website with 20 styles of over-the-calf socks, we had no idea what to expect. We were confident in our socks – they are unparalleled even by the best imports – but we could only hope others would find us and share our passion for functional and fashionable socks knitted in the States. The response has been overwhelming – in a good way.

Thanks to our loyal customers, we’ve been able to do more than just keep the lights on. We’re living our dream. In turn, we’ve created and supported American jobs by investing in state-of-the-art knitting machines. Moreover, we’ve partnered with more than 200 specialty stores across the United States – allowing many to shop Dapper Classics socks while also supporting their favorite local businesses. To keep up with the demand for our socks, we eventually transitioned our production to another family-owned-and-operated mill in North Carolina.

Over the years, Dapper Classics has grown into a full-scale menswear brand. Beyond expanding the fit and size offerings of our socks, we now proudly carry other USA-made goods – including shirts, trousers, belts, and bracelets – and a selection of other fine accessories from around the world. Our motto is simple: “Dapper is in the Details.” At Dapper Classics, we aim to help you elevate your style by recognizing the importance of detail from start to finish – from how our products are sourced and made to how they are packaged and delivered to you.

Dapper Classics remains a family-owned-and-operated business. While Harrison now has a successful career in law, Fred is involved in the day-to-day operations of the company – serving as Dapper Classics President. Connie (Fred’s wife and best friend), who had always played a role in the business, came on board more formally after wrapping up an impressive, decades-long career in retail. Fred and Connie’s son-in-law, Dustin, has also been a member of the Dapper Classics team since the company’s founding.
